World of Goo – Reviews 8/10
World of Goo was released on October 13th 2008 by 2D Boys. It was created by two Art developers, Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel. The game is designed to give you this gooey feeling by making everything, including the cursor slimy. Gooey puzzle balls are moved around by the player to construct bridges that will lead to a faucet. When reached the faucet will suck up any gooey balls left and put it in a container.
The object is to use as few gooey balls as possible in building your stairway to faucet heaven. This will allow you to maximize points for each level unlocking special achievements and high scores.
The player has to go through puzzles to unlock different levels in each chapter.
Each level has a note by the developer, which sometimes can be a type of riddle to aid in mastering the puzzle. As you advance through the game, new exciting features are introduced. Goo becomes green allowing you to be able to re-use goo attaching and removing them from other goo balls. The scenarios become more complicated with bridges defying gravity against windmills capable of destroying your goo.
I have to admit the game gets pretty hard as you advance, and it can be frustratingly difficult when it takes so long for you to figure out how to finish the level. When you finally realize there is no hope, you have to reset the level and start all over.
Overall the game is simple, but colorful and fun, this game can be played by a variety of ages and can bring enjoyment to any home.
