Transdimensional art is a term that doesn’t get thrown around lightly. It is a term that needs to be analyzed in order to understand the deeper underlying principle behind the art of Alex Grey. Alex Grey is a psychedelic artist of incredible talent and artistic articulation. His interpretation of the surreal and profoundly transcendental nature of perception and reality has been adopted by the psychedelic and artistic community as nothing short of a religious movement.
Alex Grey has an interesting interpretation on life that I think should be explored more, however one only needs to understand one simple concept in order to appreciate his art: there is always more to a person than simply what they look like. Art of this type does more than simply dazzle our corneas with interesting combinations and assortments of geometric patterns or color. It forces us to ask questions that we may not be capable of wording or face issues that we hide from in order to delude ourselves.
Delving into his incredibly thought provoking works I find that the underlying truth of the nature of reality is peeled away one painting at a time until I am finally left face to face with an identity crisis. What the hell am I?
